E-Book project included the complete technology development of handheld wireless Electronic Knowledge Aid Device. It would have a LCD display, a QWERTY keypad, small speakers, USB and Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Connectivity. The challenge was to develop a futuristic technology innovation & a cutting-edge education business solution with 360 degree study environment where students can actually see, hear and feel the learning material.

LUMIUM team explored new and emerging technologies to create a vision of how technology will shape the future education innovations and invented an award winning embedded engineering and mobile internet device system.

A handheld wireless electronic device and high-end technology solution for students included:

  • OMAP3530 Processor, OMAP™ 3 Architecture, Up to 720-MHz ARM Cortex™-A8 Core
  • 5" TFT LCD Screen with 800 x400 resolutions, aspect ratio is more than 1.5 for superior visibility of rich animated content
  • Capacitive Touch Button for Menu Transition. Dome Switches for Home, Back, Menu Selection
  • Re-layout of the QWERTY keypad design to facilitate typing of Math/Science symbols effectively
  • Quick software prototyping associated with BSP's (Board Support Package), Open Source Linux 2.6.32 kernel, OS Porting & Migration, qt for UI design & development
  • Custom software driver development and Complex board design with 6 layers, Blind & Buried vias
  • Global Networking for Prototype, Trial T1, BOM Optimization to achieve Target cost of USD $110
